Shareholder analytics for Bursa Malaysia issuers

Know who actually owns your company — not just who the register says.

MyStakeIQ reads your monthly Record of Depositors and turns it into a picture of real ownership: who is accumulating, who is distributing, and who is quietly moving stock between their own nominee accounts.

What is a Record of Depositors?

A Record of Depositors (ROD) is the official list of everyone holding shares in a Bursa Malaysia listed company on a given date, issued by Bursa Malaysia Depository. It names each CDS account, the broker it sits with, the number of shares held, and — for nominee accounts — the underlying holder in a qualifier field. Issuers typically request one every month.

The catch is that a ROD lists accounts, not people. One shareholder can appear a dozen times: once directly, and once more for every nominee bank they hold through. Read the file as it arrives and the same person looks like a dozen unrelated investors — which is why month-on-month comparisons done in a spreadsheet so often show sales and purchases that never happened.

CDS account
A Central Depository System account. One investor may hold several.
Nominee / qualifier
Shares held by a bank on someone’s behalf. The real owner sits in the qualifier.
CR-10
The share of issued capital held by the ten largest holders — the standard concentration measure.

The difference

Why does the same shareholder appear several times in my register?

Because the register is a list of custody accounts, not of owners. MyStakeIQ resolves each nominee row back to the person named in its qualifier and reports one line per beneficial owner, with the per-broker breakdown one click away.

Raw register

  • YAP CHING LOON−485,000
  • AMSEC NOMINEES — YAP C. L.+485,000

Reads as one investor selling out completely and another buying in.

MyStakeIQ

  • YAP CHING LOON0
  • moved 485,000 to AMSEC Nominees

One owner, no change in holding, correctly labelled a transfer between their own accounts.

What can you do with it?

Six things IR teams and analysts run every month, each built on the same reconciled view of who actually owns the shares.

  • One row per shareholder, not per CDS account

A register lists accounts. A person holding through three nominee banks appears three times. MyStakeIQ groups those back into one beneficial owner, so a transfer between someone’s own accounts stops reading as a sale plus a brand-new buyer.

  • Concentration and float

CR-10, top-30 entries and exits, gross-moved and net-moved per period, and the share of the register sitting in pledged or margin accounts.

  • Anomaly and transfer detection

Positions that move sharply against their own history are flagged. Moves that cancel out across one owner’s accounts are collapsed into a single transfer row instead of a fake buy and sell.

  • Broker and nominee flow

Which broker codes brought capital in this period and which distributed, with foreign custodians classified correctly rather than counted as domestic.

  • Foreign and investor-type mix

Nationality and investor-type composition tracked register over register, so foreign rotation shows up as a trend rather than a surprise.

  • Watchlists and shareholder pages

Pin an account, a broker or a nominee and follow it across every register you upload. Each shareholder gets a page showing all their activity across all brokers.

Built-in AI assistant

Can I just ask a question instead of building a report?

Yes. Every account includes an assistant you can ask in plain English — “who sold the most since February?”, “what changed on this page?” — and it answers from your own register, with the numbers shown as a table you can check.

It does not write its own database queries. It calls the same audited functions the dashboards use, so the beneficial-owner grouping, the IPO reconciliation and the tenant isolation all still apply. That is the difference between an answer you can put in a board pack and a confident guess.

  • Answers come from your register only — never another customer’s, and never the open web
  • Every figure is capped and counted, so an answer says "top 20 of 2,431" rather than inventing a total
  • Each question is logged to your audit trail with the tools it used
Ask your register

Which foreign holders added the most since the IPO?

Three foreign-custody owners added over the period:

OwnerChange
CITIGROUP NOMINEES — EXEMPT AN+2,140,000
HSBC NOMINEES — BBH BOSTON+1,305,000
DBS NOMINEES — SG CLIENTS+612,500

Sample answer. Figures are illustrative.

How does it work?

Three steps, and the only thing you supply is the file your registrar already sends you.

  1. Step 1: Upload the XLSX

Drop in the Record of Depositors exactly as your registrar sends it. Both the IPO format and the standard Bursa format are parsed directly — no template to fill in, no columns to remap.

  2. Step 2: We reconcile the accounts

Nominee rows are matched to the people behind them, accounts are matched across periods, and the IPO register is folded in so the first period compares properly against the second.

  3. Step 3: Read the register

Concentration, movement signals, anomalies and broker flow are ready in seconds. Ask the assistant a question in plain English, or open the dashboards directly.

How is this different from doing it in Excel?

A spreadsheet can sort and total a register perfectly well. What it cannot do on its own is work out that two rows are the same person.

Is my shareholder data safe?

A register is a list of real people’s names, addresses and holdings. It is treated that way.

  • Isolated per customer

Every query is filtered by your organisation and counter. Nobody else’s register is reachable from your account, including by the assistant.

  • Audited

Uploads, logins, exports and assistant questions are all written to a signed audit log you can read.

  • Yours to delete

Delete a single register or erase everything from your own settings, at any time — no email to us, no waiting.

  • Two-factor sign-in

Frequently asked questions

What is MyStakeIQ?

MyStakeIQ is shareholder register analytics for companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. It reads your monthly Record of Depositors and reports who actually owns the shares — grouping nominee and CDS accounts back to one beneficial owner, then tracking concentration, accumulation and distribution between registers.

Who operates MyStakeIQ and where are you based?

MyStakeIQ is operated by Respublica Ventures Sdn Bhd, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The product is built specifically for Bursa Malaysia issuers and their advisers, and support is provided in Malaysian business hours. You can reach us at info@mystakeiq.com.

Who uses MyStakeIQ?

Malaysian listed issuers, investor-relations teams, company secretaries, corporate advisers and share registrars. Anyone who receives a Record of Depositors and needs to explain the ownership behind it — to a board, to management, or to the market.

What is a Record of Depositors (ROD)?

A Record of Depositors is the official list of everyone holding shares in a Bursa Malaysia listed company on a given date, issued by Bursa Malaysia Depository. It names each CDS account, its broker, the shares held, and the underlying holder of any nominee account. Most issuers request one monthly.

Why does one shareholder appear several times in my register?

Because a register lists custody accounts, not people. Someone holding directly and through two nominee banks appears three times, with their name buried in a qualifier field. MyStakeIQ resolves those rows back to one beneficial owner and shows the per-broker breakdown when you click the row.

Which ROD file formats does MyStakeIQ accept?

Both the standard Bursa Malaysia format and the IPO-format depositor list. You upload the XLSX exactly as your registrar sends it — there is no template to fill in and no columns to remap.

How much does MyStakeIQ cost?

RM1,499 per month or RM14,999 per year, which is roughly two months cheaper than paying monthly. Every package includes the whole product. There is a free 7-day trial and no credit card is required to start it.

How does the free trial work?

Sign up, verify your email, and confirm your mobile number by SMS — the 7 days start from that moment and include the entire product. One trial per mobile number. Nothing is charged automatically when it ends; you choose a package if you want to continue.

Can I ask questions about my register in plain English?

Yes. Every account includes an AI assistant that answers questions like "who sold the most since February?" from your own register. It calls the same audited functions the dashboards use rather than writing its own database queries, so the answers match what the reports show.

Can other customers see my shareholder data?

No. Every query is filtered by your organisation and the counter you are viewing, including the AI assistant, whose tools cannot accept another organisation as a parameter. Isolation is verified by an automated test that seeds two organisations and asserts neither can reach the other.

Can I delete my register data?

Yes, from your own settings and at any time. Delete a single register or erase everything for a counter or the whole account. Deletion is immediate and takes the depositor rows, watchlists and assistant notes with it. You do not need to email us.

Do I need to install anything?

No. MyStakeIQ runs in the browser. You need a modern browser and the XLSX file from your registrar. Sign-in supports authenticator-app or SMS two-factor authentication.

Does MyStakeIQ work for companies listed outside Malaysia?

Not today. MyStakeIQ is built around the Record of Depositors as Bursa Malaysia Depository issues it — the CDS account structure, the nominee qualifier conventions and the Malaysian custodian list are all specific to that market. Support for other exchanges is not currently offered.

How do I get in touch?

Email info@mystakeiq.com, or use the form on the contact page. We reply within one business day, and we are happy to walk through the product using one of your own Record of Depositors files rather than a demo dataset.

Can advisers or agencies resell MyStakeIQ to their own clients?

Yes. There is a reseller programme with per-partner pricing, a referral code, and a dashboard for raising invoices and tracking commission — including on renewals. Contact us to be set up as a reseller; accounts are created by us rather than self-serve.
